Jami Morgan Launches Nowhere2Run After Code Oranges 2024 Split, Drops Bloodrave EP on Pale Chord/Rise

Jami Morgan, the frontman of Pittsburgh‑based metalcore outfit Code Orange, has moved on from the band that ended its run after a 2024 Download Festival performance. In a recent interview, Morgan said he had no unfinished business with Code Orange and that the group’s legacy and discography were complete.

Instead of returning to the same musical formula, Morgan teamed up with former Code Orange guitarist Eric “Shade” Balderose to form Nowhere2Run. The duo describes the project as a collective that not only creates its own music but also produces for other artists and stages live collaborative shows called Bloodraves. The collective’s debut EP, Bloodrave, was released in November 2025 through Pale Chord and Rise Records.

The EP’s title reflects the live events that Nowhere2Run has been running in select U.S. cities since late November 2025. According to the duo’s own statements, the shows feature Balderose on the decks and Morgan on vocals, with the lineup expanding into a full band for the performances. The events are marketed as immersive, genre‑blending experiences that combine harsh techno, experimental hip‑hop, dream‑pop, ambient electronic, and hardcore beatdowns.

While the project’s sound departs from the metalcore roots of Code Orange, Morgan has emphasized that the group is not abandoning heavy music. He said the collective “loves guitars, loves hard vocals, and has been inspired by artists that bring that in from outside of metal.” The EP’s tracks showcase a mix of “pummeling electronica” and “hardcore beatdowns,” a combination that has drawn comparisons to Nine Inch Nails, JPEGMAFIA, and Pop Will Eat Itself.

Nowhere2Run’s formation follows a broader trend of Code Orange members exploring side projects. The band, which formed in 2008 and has released albums such as Forever (2017) and Underneath (2020), has been known for blending metalcore with elements of grunge, nu‑metal, and industrial. In 2025, the group announced an indefinite hiatus, a development that coincided with Morgan’s decision to pursue new creative avenues.

The Bloodrave EP contains seven tracks and was released as a surprise drop on November 21, 2025. The release was accompanied by a music video for the title track, which was shared on YouTube and other streaming platforms. The EP’s launch was followed by a short tour that included dates in Columbus (November 29) and Amityville (December 12), as reported by music news outlets.

Pale Chord, the Los Angeles‑based label that released Bloodrave, has a history of supporting experimental and genre‑crossing artists. The label’s partnership with Rise Records, a New York‑based independent label, has allowed Nowhere2Run to reach a wider audience across streaming services and physical distribution channels.

The project’s emphasis on collaboration extends beyond its own releases. Morgan and Balderose have worked with other artists, including guest spots from H09909 and Backxwash on earlier EPs. Their production work has also appeared on albums by artists such as Zambian‑Canadian rapper Backxwash.

In summary, Jami Morgan’s transition from Code Orange to Nowhere2Run marks a significant shift in his musical trajectory. The new collective’s Bloodrave EP and accompanying Bloodrave events illustrate a deliberate move toward genre hybridity while maintaining a connection to heavy music traditions. The project’s current activities include touring, production work, and further releases under Pale Chord/Rise.

The next steps for Nowhere2Run remain focused on live shows and potential new releases, with the collective continuing to expand its collaborative network and push the boundaries of contemporary music production.
